Bungalow Reviews

Jan. 2015 – Our family of 4 had a fantastic time in this one of a kind location. The Big Island has so much geographic diversity and is our favorite island to explore. The setting of this bungalow is beautiful. Highly recommended.

Nov. 2014 – Another great family adventure!  This is our 6th time to stay at the Bungalow and this time we had six teen age boys with us! The house and accommodations are so friendly and comfortable we truly are able to relax here. With the kayaks and surf boards available for the guys any time, there was never a dull moment. Although this is a public beach, it feels very much like our own slice of heaven. Breakfast on the lanai watching the ocean and listening to the birds is one of our favorite times…. until we sit on the lanai again to watch another beautiful sunset. The personnel at Aloha Debbie Properties are always very helpful and accommodating. Leilani is great to work with and helped us with staying at the house late due to our midnight departure from the airport. She also had great connections with local business to rent kayaks. This trip was a special one for us as we don’t know if we will get all of our sons back here together again. They were 3, 5 and 6 when we first stayed in the Bungalow, they are now 16, 18 and 19. We have had some great family memories here. We would highly recommend this as a place to bring your family for some special times. We love the small town local feel that Puako, Kawaihae and Hawi share with us.

Oct. 2014 – Hawaiian Bungalow – The bungalow is in a great location, with a public beach just feet from the front door and the little town minutes away. Even though it was public beach, it felt private because of the elevated private patio area that is 20 feet from the house. It was great for watching sunsets. The house itself is a bit more rustic than I expected but as long as the trades blow, it is comfortable. It is well stocked with water gear like snorkels and chairs. The interior is nice, again in a rustic sort of way, and has a very usable kitchen. We cooked in mostly, but had a great dinner at the very nearby Hapuna Beach Prince resort. Overall we actually enjoyed the stay at Lalamilo more than our second experience at a resort elsewhere in the islands.

May. 2013 – The most special place I have ever stayed at!I cannot say enough good things out about our stay here. I was traveling with my best friend of many decades. We are now in our 60’s and still enjoy meeting places and vacationing together. We both were in awe of the beautiful setting this house is in. You are right on the beach, and a few nights the ocean waves were so loud, they woke me up. I injured my knee shortly before our stay and was concerned about the rest room being up a steep hill. No need to worry — a lovely new bathroom with huge shower and all amenities was right there at ground level. The traditional bathroom that was up a little path was also charming and functional. Only because of my knee I was grateful I didn’t have to rely on it regularly. For me, this was the IDEAL place to relax, do as much or as little as you want. Shopping is within driving distance or you could just spend the whole time on the beach. We had the windows open day and night the entire time we were there. The weather was spectacular. A huge supply of water toys is kept at the house in the laundry room, which was also a wonderful thing to have. I would recommend this bungalow to anyone. It was clean, very well maintained, and just a very special, peaceful majestic beachfront setting. I am already planning my return trip.

Oct. 2012 – Awesome stay for the whole familyWe had a great time at this house, perfect for a whole family, adults & kids and great location on a perfect beach. The kids loved playing on the beach and adults enjoyed the nice patio overlooking the ocean and convenient location to put kids for naps, grab lunch, etc. The house was very clean and stocked with all neccessities as well as beach toys, snorkeling gear, etc. We loved it here and plan to come back and tell our our friends that can afford it.

Feb. 2012 – We spent a week with 3 adults and 2 teenage boys. The bungalow has a rustic but cool feel to it. The island has been experiencing high surf and has remodeled the beach. It is more rocky but its’s easy access for kayaks and paddle boards. We planned on snorkeling but with the churned up waters we did a lot more kayaking and body boarding. There were many experienced surfers right out our door. We were thoroughly entertained. On calmer days we were able to kayak out far and get a close up of migrating whales and manta rays. Because of the close proximity of the ocean and rocky cliffs and high surf the noise was unbelievable at night, the bedroom windows on the ocean side do not have shutters to dull the noise. I do recommend considering this for future renters. The teen age boys had a trip of a life time. The kitchen is well equipped for home cooking. Leilani the property manager was very helpful and we rented kayaks and paddle boards from the company she suggested. They were very reliable and easy to contact. We plan to go back next year. K.B. ~
